CHOOSING THE RIGHT CAN LINER

STEP 1: Measure the trash or recycling receptacle:

Bag Width: Use one-half of the outer circumference of the container.
Bag Length: Use the height of the container, plus one-half of the diameter of the container, plus 3 inches, (for overhang).
For square or rectangular containers, use the diagonal of the container bottom instead of the can's diameter.

STEP 2: Determine bag type and necessary gauge (thickness) based on how the bag will be used.
LLD (Linear Low Density) measured in MIL (1/1000th of an inch)

Great for disposing of rough or sharp objects under tough transport conditions.
USES: Yard waste, kitchens, outdoor receptacles, plastic cutlery, cardboard, glass, and other jagged objects.

HD (High Density) measured in MIC (micron)

Better for paper and non-sharp objects and heavier loads.
USES: Office and restroom waste, food waste, towels, smooth, heavy trash

GAUGE: Bag thickness is difficult to standardize across manufacturers due to advances in polymer blend formulations and unique additives that allow some products to perform better despite being thinner or lighter. Use the chart below as a general guide. If you are unsure, ask your Mailender rep to suggest a bag that will suite your facility’s unique needs.
